Elegance and style, but with the power to take the toughest punishment, that's the formula behind the expedition proved Outrack roof rack for the Land Rover Freelander from Safety Devices
Developed from the racks designed by Safety Devices for the recent global G4 events, the Outrack is a low level, tubular, design that faithfully follows the sweeping contours of the Freelander roof line. Available with a number of practical accessories the Outrack has been devised to suit the needs of the serious off-roader just as much as the weekender.
Attached to the Freelander roof rail mounts using stainless steel fixings, the new rack weighs just 22 kgs and has built-in mounts for four forward facing and one rear spot lamp.
Outrack options include a 9mm anti-slip, phenolic film coated, plywood floor with ready formed holes for lashing straps, and a rear ladder which locates on two of the spare wheel fixing bolts.
An optional and unique feature is the glass-fibre BIB spoiler which fits to the front of the rack to bridge the gap between the lower rail and the roof, significantly reducing wind 'whistle'. Supplied in grey gel-coat finish, the BIB can be spray painted to match vehicle colour, using 'touch up' spray cans from the Land Rover dealer.
The spot lamp mounts on the rack are designed to accept standard spot lamp brackets or special brackets are available to reduce the overall height when large diameter Warn lamps are fitted.
Like all Safety Devices' roof racks - the company also developed racks and safety protection equipment for both the Camel Trophy and Trek expeditions - the Outrack is manufactured utilising computer controlled cutting and bending equipment to ensure accurate fitment. Tubing is zinc coated against corrosion and finished in tough, matt black, powder coat, and welding is to the exacting standards of TWI (The Welding Institute).
The Outrack roof rack costs £495.00, excl. VAT, from Safety Davies. Other prices are: Flooring £266.20; BIB spoiler £73.87; Rear Ladder £136.03; Lamp Brackets £45.74; Warn Lamp Adapters £34.00.
