The Pajero/Shogun Evolution, Mitsubishi’s vision for cross-country rallying, made its debut at the Frankfurt motor show 2001.

The new concept vehicle was displayed alongside the 3.5 litre MIVEC 2001 Paris Dakar Rally winning Pajero/Shogun as driven by Jutta Kleinschmidt.

A pre-production version of Mitsubishi’s new Lancer Evolution World Rally Car - which makes its rally debut in October at San Remo - accompanied the Pajero/Shogun Evolution at the Frankfurt show. Also making its world debut was the European production version of the new Lancer Evolution VII RS-II which goes on sale in the UK early 2002.

The Pajero/Shogun Evolution concept car is powered by the 3.5 litre V6 MIVEC (Mitsubishi innovative valve lift and timing electronic control) engine, and comes complete with super select 4WD, AYC (Active Yaw Control) and ACD (Active Centre Differential).
