For ELEVEN years the Range Rover was only available in standard 3 door configuration. British Leyland were obviously missing a great opportunity by not offering a 5 door version. the Range Rover was built to appeal to the Landed Gentry and the Well-to-do about town. These were the people with the available cash to spend on better specified vehicles.
This gap in the market was soon filled by specialist conversion companies and coachbuilders.
