Editor's Comment . . .

Here we are again, another month gone, a few more events attended, a few more things fixed, a few more things broken! I think I know how the men who paint the Golden Gate Bridge feel, as soon as you've finished you have to start all over again.

Owning and driving 4x4's - particularly older Land Rovers - can be a bit like this. You have a list of jobs to be done, but no matter how long you own the vehicle the list never seems to get any shorter.

If you're like me you spend hours each month reading through the magazines looking for the parts you need at the price you want to pay. Only when something important breaks that stops the vehicle in its tracks do you contemplate paying Franchised Dealer prices.

Only the real hardcore off-roaders, like some of those competing in the 4x4 World Championship will carry a lorry load of spares with a money no object-win at all costs attitude.

To try and help you in your search for affordable parts, this month we introduce a new PART-FINDER service. Tell us what you need and we will do our best to find the right supplier and the best price. This service is totally free, just try it out!

At the moment we have set it up to deal with just Land Rover Parts enquiries but we shall soon be expanding it to cover other makes.

Keep Off Roading!

Best Regards
Simon Ward-Hastelow

SUZUKI SJ Rebuild
Set yourself a budget of £1,000 to buy, rebuild and prepare a Suzuki SJ for competition, it can be done!

Auverland A3
Not a very well know make of 4x4 vehicles, if you live outside Europe you may not have heard about it at all. The Auverland is very capable off road and you have the added bonus of driving something a bit different.

David Bowyer
This guy has been around seemingly as long as Land Rover itself, he set up the first Off-Road Driving school in the UK, was part of the team that launched the first 4x4 magazine, until recently he was secretary of the Land Rover Series 1 club and now he builds his own winches.
