ISSUE 13

Editor's Comment . . .

Well here we are, The first issue of the new year. I remember taking part in a discussion this time 2 years ago where we wondered whether the 4x4 market would survive much into the new century. Now it seems there is no stopping it. For the 1st time in the USA SUVs and Light Trucks overtook 'regular' cars in the sales charts, acounting for 52% of total sales.

Just have a look at the list on the right of all the new models being released this year and other models on the drawing board for future release. The 4x4 enthusiast has never had such a good choice of vehicles.

This year will see some very exciting developments for DIFFLOCK.com. We are currently putting together a whole package of new features and activities for you. Our success has far exceded our wildest imagination, you might like to know that the Difflock community now numbers over 50,000 regular readers, reaching almost 100 countries worldwide.

We are always looking for your comments and suggestions, if there's something we're doing wrong or something you'd like to see more of then please let us know. We will do our best to keep improving the site and making sure we are the Number One 4x4 Web Magazine!

Keep Off Roading!

Best Regards

TOOLBOX TALK
DAVID LOVEJOY:
A ‘tool box’ talk is the frank discussion with the work force prior to a new contract taking place, in which all matters concerning the new site are discussed. That is what I want to make this column, a frank discussion about the hobby we all love.

FORD ESCAPE HEV
Take one VERY popular 4x4 SUV, then add a battery powerpack to it. You end up with a very econimical and innovative vehicle

LAND ROVER in 2002
2002 could be a make or break year for Land Rover. The Series 3 Range Rover is launched and the Discovery II gets a face lift. And if that were not enough in the background there are some pretty radical plans for a V12 Range rover, a stretched LSE version, a 'baby' Range Rover and a completely new Defender!

WHEELING WOMEN's WEEKEND
The Jeep Girl Club USA hold an annual get together to show the boys that they are not the only ones that can handle a Jeep in the Rough Stuff!

GPS
Once upon a time all we had to rely on for directions was an OS map and a dog eared AA road map that had been under the back seat as long as anyone could remember. Now we have electronic Gizmos to help us get lost

WHEELS & TYRES
Do you really know what all those strange markings are around the edge of your tyres, here we explain what some of them mean.
