Editor's Comment . . .
This month we feature 2 great legends, the Pinzgauer and the Santana Hannibal. The Pinzgauer is possibly the best all round off road vehicle we've ever driven, end of story. The Hannibal is the latest interpretation of the Land Rover Defender to come from the Santana Spanish factory. Many of its features and specifications should be closely looked at by Land Rover!
Contrasting these 2 serious off roaders we also start a series on off roading with so called Soft Roaders. Many dismiss these more street wise alternatives out of hand but most can tackle the rough stuff quite admirably, you just have to know the limitations of your vehicle and drive accordingly.
And on the subject of off-road how about on-water, a Chinese company is turning everyday Jeeps into weekend fishing platforms, what reaction you'll get when you park it in a supermarket car park afterwards I don't know.
Finally this month we've started adding to the Difflock Fleet. tThe latest addition is a 35 year old S2a Ex Army Ambulance (don't ask why!) this should throw up some interesting maintenance and modification problems, as usual we will tell you all about it as we go.
We've also added another couple of vehilces to the fleet but more of those soon!
Keep Off Roading!
Best Regards
