Why is it that so many people - who have driving licences – are so completely inept if not dangerous on the road? I will hold my hand up here and admit to being less than ‘pure as the driven snow’ when it comes to speed and to being a tadge on the impatient side every now and then – but some of these people are a liability.
For example; it’s a dark rainy night, blowing a gale and the roads are wet and muddy. Despite this it is possible to see the lights of an oncoming vehicle some way off – in fact way before it become necessary to ‘dip’ the headlights. So why is it so difficult for other people to do so? Why do they feel the urge to burn an imprint on the retinas of other drivers?
Another example: Why must so many oncoming drivers drive four foot away from the verge thus making me drive in the hedge in order to pass them?
Why isn’t it an offence? We live in a world of high revenue law – a necessity to fund the Police – here is perfect chance to collect more shekels without outlay on expensive equipment….

The AWDC (All Wheel Drive Club) had an AGM back in January. During that AGM a number of committee members were re-elected or voted on to the committee. However there was a problem - no replacement for the out going chairman had been nominated! To get over this the new committee and its ‘Chairman for the AGM’ decided to nominate a new club chairman then and there – voting was duly done and a ‘New’ club chairman was duly elected.
Slight problem though – in the fine print it states that in the case of a position for a committee member not having a nominated party or parties to stand for election during the AGM, then a quorum (of a set number) of club members can nominate at said AGM (that’s my translation). There weren’t enough members at this year’s AGM. So is the ‘New’ club chairman temporary? Or is this little matter of clubs statutes being ignored just going to be forgotten?
I’m a member of the AWDC, in fact I have been - on and off – for a number of years. I have always been fond of the club, but have now got to the point where it’s dwindling membership and internal bickering are causing me to wonder where else to spend my subscription….

Have you ever noticed the enormous price variations between parts/bolt-on emporiums? I always like to use Demon Tweaks (an all round good company) as a guide to bolt-on extras and just recently, having been given the new Demon Tweaks catalogue (Motor sport and Tesco Car Park Racer versions) I have been comparing prices with ‘other’ companies. Either DT’s are a charitable trust or some of their competitors need new calculators! |
