8. WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF PREMATURE BATTERY FAILURES?

8.1. Lead sulfation in storage. (See Section 12.)

8.2. Loss of electrolyte due to over charging or heat.

8.3. Under charging.

8.4. Old age (positive plate shedding), ”sludging”, or excessive deep discharges.

8.5. Excessive vibration.

8.6. Freezing.

8.7. Calcium or magnesium sulfation from using tap or reverse osmosis water.

8.8. Positive grid corrosion or growth due to high temperatures.

8.9. Fast recharging at rates greater than C/4 (amp hour capacity/hours).
