ISUZU GBX

Isuzu is expanding on their reputation as a rugged SUV manufacturer with the rough-and-ready GBX concept vehicle. Intended to combine the characteristics of a classic, utilitarian off-road vehicle with the technological innovations of today, the GBX - a bastardization of the word gearbox - is designed with the road less traveled in mind. Short overhangs, 21-inch wheels with run-flat tires, and a highly modular and spacious interior design certainly give this vehicle a predilection for the fabled Rubicon Trail.

Isuzu delivers on its promise of GBX's utility with an innovative exoskeleton frame structure with integrated roof rack that provides strength and rigidity, a power-sliding canvas cargo roof for carrying tall equipment, cargo area tool storage and work shelves, and power-articulated side and rear steps. The exoskeleton frame eliminates B-pillars, which allows for center-opening rear doors.

Among GBX's newfangled niceties are a head-up gauge cluster and a digital touch screen, which operates controls such as climate, stereo and satellite navigation system. Intelligent Suspension Control and Torque-on-Demand four-wheel drive help to keep the GBX steady and true to its off-road course.
