QUICK TIP: TD5 Manifold blowing?
By OEC International
5th Jun 2007

Have you experienced the following symptons...a blowing exhaust manifold and having to repeatedly replace the gasket, broken studs and a whistling noise? If so, read on.

OEC International recently took in a client's vehicle due to the client fed up with experiencing the symptons described above. It was Land Rover Defender Td5 with an upgraded Allisport intercooler, hard wired upgrade and pushing 200 bhp.

Following an initial inspection and further discussion dicussion with Andy from Allisport, Andy recommended amendments were made to a new exhaust manifold because, according to Andy, the standard manifolds aren't flexible enough to absorb the upgrade and boost in power. With the correct machinery and years of experience in fettling Paul at OEC machined out the bridges and fitted the new manifold and associated gaskets.

The result....no more whistling and no more blowing! Thank you Andy. Top tip and one for all those client's and drivers thinking of pushing the bhp up in the Td5s.
