Complete Suspension Upgrade

Although our Project Land Rover 110 had a new chassis fitted a couple of years ago, many of the original components were re-used and have since become very tired.

Notably the front springs were very soft and the feeling of wallowing around corners was steadily getting worse. The Pro Comp 9000 Dampers fitted by the previous owner were doing their best to compensate for this but we decided it was time to sort the whole lot out.

We measured the distance from the floor to the top of the wheel arch at all four corners and found that they varied by up to 2" (50mm)

After looking around at all the various options we opted for a complete kit from Scorpion Racing. Their knowledge of Suspension components was good and their advice was comprehensive. They are also now offering the new 'Dynamic' Polybush kits. These fit neatly between the existing Blue 'Comfort" and Red 'Off-Road' Bushes.

Also by opting for their Decarbon Gas Shocks everything we bought was bright Orange!

CONCLUSION:

With so many different makes of Springs, Dampers and Bushes available it can be a little daunting trying to decide what is best for your vehicle.

There so many different variations, from standard to +20% to +50mm lift to Extra Heavy Duty and everything in between, that they can pretty much tailor each suspension set up to your exact needs. And if you are not totally happy they will change it for you.

Our initial reaction after fitting the new suspension parts was that the difference was just incredible! No more leaning into corners, much more positive road holding and steering that does exactly what you want. No longer do we have to compensate for the various failings and problems with the old springs and dampers. We would go as far to say that it is like driving a new vehicle - apart from all the other rattles, rumbles and engine noise that is!

POLY BUSHES: We opted for the new 'Dynamic' Orange Polybushes. These are a compromise between the Red "Standard' bushes which we felt were a little to hard and the Blue 'Comfort' bushes which just looked way too soft for what we needed.
