Those of you who have changed the timing belt on a 2.5D, 2.5TD, 300 or 200 TDI Land Rover engine, will know that probably the hardest part of the job is undoing the crankshaft retaining bolt in order to remove the front pulley damper assembly and timing cover.

These bolts are tightened up to very high torques and are frequently loctited, making removal extremely difficult. Equally, it is essential that these bolts are re-tightened fully since they have a habit of coming loose, especially on 200 TDI engines, damaging the crankshaft, timing belt gear and oil seal.

The problem is that the crankshaft will rotate as you try to undo the bolt. On manual vehicles, even with the vehicle in gear and handbrake applied, the clutch can slip before the bolt comes undone. On automatics, it is IMPOSSIBLE to stop the Crankshaft turning without this locking tool.

This crankshaft pulley holding tool will lock both the crankshaft and pulley assembly firmly in place preventing rotation whilst the pulley retaining bolt is removed or refitted.

Whatsmore, it is easily fitted within seconds using the four high tensile steel bolts supplied.

This tough duty tool is fabricated from a precise, laser cut 8mm thick steel blank welded to a hefty 16mm thick by 53mm deep solid steel collar which bolts to the pulley with the four high tensile steel bolts supplied.
